Slimming ("the app," "we," "us") helps you estimate the calories and macronutrients in your meals from a photo or a product barcode. This policy explains what data we handle, who we share it with, and your choices. We aim to collect as little as possible.
1. What we collect
You provide:
- Meal photos you take or select, when you use photo scanning.
- Account info — if you create an account: your email address (via our auth provider).
- Profile & goals — height, weight, age, sex, activity level, and goal, used to compute your calorie/macro targets. Apple classifies height and weight as health data and activity level as fitness data. These stay on your device unless you sign in, in which case they sync to your account.
- Diary entries — the meals you log.
- Exercise entries — the activity, intensity and duration you log, and the calorie estimate we derive from them.
Collected automatically:
- Usage & scan counts — to enforce the free-tier daily limit and improve the app. Our analytics provider (PostHog) associates these with your account once you sign in.
- Crash & performance diagnostics — so we can find and fix faults.
- Subscription status — via our payments provider (RevenueCat), to unlock premium.
- Advertising identifier — via Google AdMob, for the optional rewarded ads on the free tier.
- Approximate (coarse) location, derived from your IP address — not from GPS. Google AdMob uses it to select ads, and PostHog uses it for country/region-level analytics. We never request device location permission and cannot see where you are precisely.
We do not collect your contacts, browsing history, or precise location, and we do not request location permission.
2. How your meal photos are handled (please read)
When you scan a meal by photo:
- The image is resized to ~512px and recompressed on your device before it leaves your phone.
- It is sent to our server, which forwards it to a third-party AI vision provider, Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (DashScope / "Qwen"), located in Singapore, solely to estimate calories and macronutrients.
- Image metadata (EXIF), including any GPS location, is stripped server-side before the image is processed.
- Results are cached by a one-way hash of the image so identical photos aren't re-processed.
- We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we do not sell them.
Disclosure: Because meal photos are processed by an AI provider based in China (Alibaba), your photo data is transferred to and processed on infrastructure in Singapore operated by that provider under its own terms. If you are not comfortable with this, use the barcode scanner (which does not send any photo) or do not use photo scanning.
Barcode scanning sends only the numeric barcode to the Open Food Facts public database to look up published nutrition facts. No photo or personal data is sent.

We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data retention & your choices
- Local data (goals, diary if signed out) stays on your device; delete the app to remove it.
- Account data: you can delete your account and all associated data from inside the app — Settings → Delete account. This removes your diary, goals, quota records and referral data immediately, and cannot be undone. You may also email preacherapp@gmail.com and we will delete it within 30 days.
- Cached scan results are keyed by image hash and contain no personal identifiers.
- Ads in Slimming are opt-in only: a rewarded ad is offered when you have used your free daily scans and choose to unlock more. We show no banner or interstitial ads. Premium subscribers have unlimited scans and are never offered one. You can also opt out of personalised ads in your device settings (Limit Ad Tracking / Reset Advertising ID).
5. Children
Slimming is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. Nutrition estimates are not intended for children's medical use.
6. Not medical advice
Slimming provides estimates for general wellness and informational purposes only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, diagnostic, or dietary treatment advice. Consult a qualified professional for medical or nutritional decisions.
7. Security
Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Account credentials are stored using your device's secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change and, for material changes, we will notify you in-app.
