These terms govern your use of the Slimming mobile app ("the app," "the Service"). By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Purchases made through the App Store are additionally governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which applies to this app.
1. What Slimming does — and doesn't
Slimming estimates the calories and macronutrients in a meal from a photo, or reads exact nutrition from a product barcode.
Photo estimates are estimates. They are produced by an AI model from a single image. No camera can see the oil in a pan, the sugar in a sauce, or what is hidden underneath. Portion size in particular is often wrong. We show you a per-item breakdown and let you correct any item precisely because we expect to be wrong sometimes.
Do not rely on Slimming for medical, clinical or therapeutic purposes. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. If you have a medical condition, an eating disorder, are pregnant, or are managing a clinical diet, talk to a qualified professional rather than to this app.
Barcode results come from the public Open Food Facts database. That data is contributed by the public, and we cannot guarantee it is accurate or current.
2. Your account
You can use most of Slimming without an account. If you create one, you're responsible for keeping access to it secure and for activity that happens under it. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age where you live).
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
3. Free tier, ads, and Premium
Free tier. Slimming includes a number of free scans each day. The exact number may change as we balance running costs. When you run out, you may choose to watch a rewarded advertisement to unlock more. Ads are opt-in only — we show no banner or interstitial advertising.
Premium. A paid subscription removes the daily scan limit, so you never need an ad to keep scanning.
Billing. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your App Store account, not by us. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. If a free trial is offered, your subscription begins and payment is taken when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
Cancelling. Cancel any time in your device's Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not hide the cancellation path and we do not require you to contact us.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies, at <https://support.apple.com/billing>. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves, though we're glad to help you with a request.
4. Acceptable use
Please don't: use the app unlawfully; attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer it; scrape or resell our data or AI output; automate scans to exhaust our inference budget; or upload images you have no right to upload.
We may suspend access that is damaging the Service for other people.
5. Your content
Meal photos and diary entries remain yours. You grant us only the narrow licence needed to operate the Service — to transmit and process an image so it can be analysed, and to store what you log so we can show it back to you. We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we do not sell them. See the Privacy Policy for exactly who processes what.
6. Availability
We do our best to keep Slimming working, but it is provided as is, without warranty. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that estimates will be accurate. Features may change or be withdrawn.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any decision you make on the basis of an estimate the app produced. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date will change, and for material changes we'll notify you in the app. Continuing to use Slimming after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the country where you live.

These terms were drafted for a small independent app and have not been reviewed by a lawyer. They are not legal advice. If Slimming grows, or takes payment outside the App Store, have them reviewed — particularly sections 7 and 9.
